TSA Volunteers to install Tele Medicine

Jean Jacque of Health Promotion Unit said the overseas volunteers of Medical Practitioners from New Caledonia who are working with Tanna Solidarity Association, TSA are planning to install Tele Medicine project at the White sands Health centre on Tanna.

Mr jean revealed that the planned project to install computers to access email at this Health centre is an idea that  will later expand to cover all the southern islands of Vanuatu.

The Health Promotion Unit leader said the idea is to connect the remote islands of south Vanuatu through a computer network that will enable Doctors and other seniors inside the Medical world to help juniors at the  Health centres treat difficult cases.

According to Mr Jean Jacque, the project will take time but is at the heart of the international volunteers who are working with the Government to solve the health need of the nation.

According to Mr Jean the present relationship between Tanna Solidarity Association and the New Caledonia Medical Practitioners started some years ago. He said the Government supports this relationship.

The Health promotion unit worker went on to say the Medical team from New Caledonia visits Tanna three times in one year. He said these visits lasts for only a week before the team returns.

Mr Jean Jacque said a Doctor is coming next month and this time he will spend over a month at the  White Sands Health Centre. Jean revealed that this Doctor needs a visa as he is the first among his colleagues to spend more time here. But the Health Promotion Unit important man went on to say their application for this Doctors visa is taking longer to be approved by the immigration Principal Mr Francois Batique.

Jean Jacque went on to say Mr Batique advised them that they should see the Foreign affairs office first before he could make any decision as this is the procedure.
