Carlot reinstatement blocked by parliament

ATTEMPTS by the opposition to re-instate the former speaker of parliament and Port Vila MP, Maxime Carlot  have failed.

Parliament defeated a motion to lift the suspension on Carlot by 24 votes to 16.

Carlot  was suspended last year after he had been accused of misleading the parliament in a series of delays to a motion to remove him.

He was also accused of misleading the parliament over a motion against the Prime Minister Sato Kilman and the election of Serge Vohor in December 2010 that resulted in court hearings.

Recently, the Vaturisu Council of chiefs on Efate made an appeal to Kilman asking him to lift Carlot Korman’s suspension.
